Ajay Devgan takes Marathi lessons from wife Kajol

Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn turned to his half-Maharashtrian wife, actress Kajol for help when he was required to deliver dialogues fluently in Marathi for his role in Reliance Entertainment’s “Singham”.
Ajay, who plays a tough senior inspector Bajirao Singham in the action movie, has a few scenes where he had to speak in Marathi, and he wanted to perfect it.
Since Kajol, whose mother Tanuja is a Maharashtrian, has a good hold on the language, she was more than excited to help her husband. She taught Ajay how to pronounce a few words authentically, and he picked up the accent within minutes.
“Singham”, releasing July 22, is directed by Rohit Shetty. It is a remake of Tamil film “Singam”.

Amitabh Bachchan-I don’t believe in the caste system

Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan, who will be seen in a film themed on caste-based reservations, says he doesn’t believe in the caste system, has never faced any bias because of his caste and is proud that his father gave him a surname that doesn’t denote any such thing.

“If ever I have faced a rejection or a failure, it has been on the basis of my incapability to do something and never my caste,” Amitabh, 68, told IANS in an interview.

‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’ breaks even, makes Rs.59 crore

Director Zoya Akhtar’s “Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara” has broken even, making Rs.28.60 crore in the opening weekend and Rs.31 crore through satellite and music rights for a total of over Rs.59 crore. The budget of the film, including prints and publicity was Rs.55 crore, trade sources said.

At the box office, the film, which was publicised extensively across the country, earned Rs.8.15 crore Friday, Rs.9.25 crore Saturday and Rs.11.20 crore Sunday, with occupancy being 100 percent.

The film recovered Rs.24 crore through satellite rights and Rs.7 crore from its music rights.

Despite the bomb blasts in Mumbai two days before its Friday release, people queued up to watch the movie. The film opened with 90 to 100 percent occupancy.
